We’ve just landed some new additions to our alcoholic drinks range from Glebe Farm. Two excellent Gluten Free Beers, a spelt beer and a range of three unique and delicious ciders.
The gluten free beers are named after the heroes of the wartime Pathfinder RAF squadrons who were based in Huntingdon during the war. “Night Mission” is a traditional tasting, proper “Ale” and “Wellington Bomber”, a full bodied dark porter.
A few planes unfortunately crashed on Glebe Farms land and relics from these crashes are constantly being unearthed. The “Wellington Bomber” is a quite well documented tragic crash on one of their fields where unfortunately some of the crew lost their lives, five minutes after taking off. They are buried locally to the farm.
Spelt is an ancient grain originally grown by the Romans and more recently grown on Glebe farm as well, from which their spelt beer was originally derived. The name reflects the Roman connection both through the grain and the evidence of occupation in the area.
The new Ciders are made only from apples grown within the county of Cambridgeshire. It starts its life as pure apple juice (which is a perfectly good enough product itself!) and then simply left to ferment! No yeast is added at all. The fermentation happens as a result purely of the natural yeasts already on the apples and the natural sugar from the juice. This is a totally natural product, pure and simple (literally!) Pure, natural flavourings are used for the range of flavours and for the draught Ciders, not even sulphites are used. We believe this makes for quite a unique quality product.

We are thrilled to launch Tipree’s NEW Strawberry Gin Liqueur! (TP270)
Tiptree have recently partnered up with The Hayman Family, who have been making gin since 1863. Based locally to the Tiptree farm, it was a natural move to combine the delicious fruit from the farm with the natural botanicals in this small batch gin to create something extra special. Each batch of gin is crafted in an artisanal copper still, named ‘Marjorie’ after Grandmother Hayman.
Tiptree’s Little Scarlett strawberries are rested in the spirit to imbue their beautiful rich fruit notes. The Little Scarlett strawberries are a tiny variety of strawberry unique to the Wilkin Estates. They require great care whilst growing and picking, but we agree with Tiptree – it’s worth every inch of effort!
We think this new liqueur is extremely versatile, as well as being delicious simply enjoyed as it comes, it also makes a great base for cocktails. Here’s something to try below;
Tiptree Fruit Gin Spritzer
- Fill an attractive glass with ice.
- Add a measure or two of Tiptree Fruit Gin Liqueur.
- Top up with your favourite mixer for a rather fruity Gin Spritzer.
This year Valentine’s Day falls on Sunday 14th February. Don’t forget to stock up ready for the last minute gift buyers on Saturday 13th…and probably the 14th too!
If you didn’t see a copy of our pre-order Valentine’s and Easter catalogue in September, fear not as we have some ideal products in our all year round catalogue to help you provide suitable gifts of the edible/drinkable variety for your customers to buy. Here are our top 3 recommendations;
Firstly Tiptree have just launched a strawberry flavoured gin liqueur, and we are one of the first wholesalers to stock it (TP270)! It is a great gift for gin lovers and with it’s perfectly pink, rosy colour it will sit beautifully in any Valentine’s display. With an RRP of £19.99 we think the price tag is as appealing as the colour.
Gnaw’s milk chocolate Love Bar (GN023) is always a winner for Valentine’s and is a great impulse buy. Hand-made in Norfolk this creamy milk chocolate bar, topped with jelly heart sweets is sure to melt anyone’s heart.
A favourite in the confectionery category all year round are the Swizzels giant love hearts (SW014). This is their month of glory, the month they long for in the remaining 11 months of the year, so don’t deny them of their glory for February!
We hope this has given you some inspiration, feel free to contact the office for more ideas or if you have any questions about the products mentioned above.

Jan 2016 Promotion Mailer
Breckland Orchard’s founder Claire left her 3 hour daily commute to the city behind her to start up a business closer to home. She makes Posh Pop® – fabulous flavour combinations with spring water as their base. The drinks are inspired by those her grandmother Jessie made when Claire was growing up. She wanted to try and recreate the delicious fresh taste of her childhood.
There are no artificial colours or flavours in Breckland Orchard drinks and the bottles are recyclable, so they do their bit for the environment too!
Their range consists of 9 delicious flavours, and most recently they have added 3 more – Posh Pop Lighter. The ‘lighter’ varieties contain very few or even no calories like the Elderflower flavour!
Pear and Elderflower is their most popular flavour from the full range and the following have won great taste awards; Ginger Beer with Chilli, Dandelion & Burdock and Elderflower.
Breckland Orchard have also been short listed for East Anglia Family Business of the Year Award 2016. You can vote for them here.
Buttermilk is a family run confectionery business based in Cornwall. Their award-winning treats are still lovingly handmade in-house by craft confectioners using traditional methods to stay true to their heritage. Their extremely skilled and passionate team can still be found blending ingredients in traditional copper pans over open flames.
We currently stock their sharing boxes, tasting selection boxes, fudge fingers snack pack and the taster box snack pack.
